On this Valentine’s Day: More reason to find physical activity you !
We know stretching and exercising strengthens the body — but what about the mind? A Wake Forest School of Medicine study, presented at a recent Alzheimer’s Association meeting set forth results showing that moderate aerobic exercise and low-intensity stretching stalled cognitive decline in participants.
Cognitive function did not decline in either participant group over the 1.5-year testing period, which suggests that even mild exercise may have stalled cognitive decline. Meanwhile, a comparison group of adults who did not participate in routine exercise showed significant cognitive decline over the course of the study.
